Jason McIntosh, founder and lead auctioneer, has been captivated by the world of auctioneering since the age of 8, when he would attend auctions with his neighbor and mentor, Ed Hewitt. The fast-paced rhythm of the auctioneer’s chant left an indelible mark on him.
Jason’s journey took him from earning a diploma in agriculture from the University of Guelph’s Kemptville College in 2002 to running his own freezer beef business in Peterborough. Yet, something was missing. In 2011, Jason decided to pursue his childhood dream and completed his auctioneer training at the Canadian Auction College, learning directly from some of Canada’s top auctioneers.
Since then, Jason has become a trusted name in the auction business, working with Doug Mitchell Auctions in Omemee, Ontario. Together, they bring decades of experience in handling a wide range of auctions, from large farm and estate sales to commercial/inventory clearance and household (new and used) items. Whether it’s farm equipment, real estate, antiques, or even restaurant equipment, our sales offer something for everyone. Auctions can be held either on-site, on-line or at Doug Mitchell’s auction facility.
Jason also lends his expertise as a contract auctioneer for North Toronto Car Auctions in Barrie, Ontario, and Global Asset Solutions in Milton, Ontario, owned by renowned auctioneer Michel “Hoss” Bertrand. His skills have also led him to auction for numerous charity events throughout Peterborough, Sunderland, Minden, and the Durham Region. As a community-minded citizen, Jason volunteers his time to support many area community groups.
One of the most meaningful sales in Jason’s career was the estate auction of his mentor, Ed Hewitt. Ed, who inspired Jason’s auctioneering journey, passed away doing what he loved – attending an auction. It was an honor for Jason to be entrusted with handling Ed’s estate sale, where the very treasures they had once bought together were sold at auction. This moment stands as a testament to the deep personal connections forged through the world of auctioneering.
